Spring has sprung and we have been enjoying all the warm weather and fun holidays associated with it. We had a great trip to Florida, visiting family and friends and attending a wedding. Kyle and Chloe had such a great time together and we all loved seeing the joy they had just being together every day. We're looking forward to more time with family, Easter, and celebrating Kyle's FOURTH birthday very soon!

I have tried very hard to put all the words that Kyle can read on his own on our word wall. I know I don't have them all but it is a good list. Kyle decided he wanted to count how many words he can read on his own. So, starting with letter Aa he pointed to each word, read it, and counted it. We had 84 words this day but have added many since then. He is able to sound out CVC words with no assistance now and remembers so many more words the first time he is "taught" them or inquires about them in our reading.
Uncle Mike and Aunt Louise sent Kyle a package (that alone is enough to make the day extraordinary) after their trip to Thailand. One of the things they sent was this tut tut, along with a postcard showing it in use. Kyle has enjoyed this new mode of transportation and chooses it instead of his Matchbox cars lately.

We just had to make a rainbow with all that paint leftover! Kyle first said he couldn't make one but after modeling how to make the first few arcs on my own small rainbow, he quickly figured out that he could do it. He was so proud of his artwork. Before heading to Florida he decided to frame it and give it to Granny for her 81st birthday. 
Math work with a cowbow twist? Sometimes the hat just makes the experience complete. Kyle had to look at various numbers (anywhere from 1-100) and determine which number came next. He then chose that number from the pile of numbers on his table and glue it in the proper place.

A great place in the middle of Jacksonville....the Jacksonville Landing right along the St. Johns River. This is a little boy's dream!!! Several big brides, boats everywhere, water, trains, tall building, police officers, water fountains, music, people, and even a toy store. We had such a good time hanging out here.
Rachel was able to meet up with his for lunch! We love getting to see her when we visit Florida....just wish this visit wasn't so short this time.

Limbo fun at Marbles Museum
Kyle dictated what kind of art project he wanted us to do. He made his first then told me to make one just like his. He made the red rectangle and then said he was going to put all the other colors inside the red rectangle. I commented that he was putting all the other colors inside the red rectangle, like a picture inside a frame. He said, "that's exactly right, like a frame." Therefore, our pictures are titled "Colors in Frame." He was very intentional with this art project and had a clear plan of what he wanted to create before he began. It was fun listening to him and watching him put the image in his head onto paper. He was very encouraging when it was my turn to paint and complimented me often on my ability to choose the right color. :)
