July 18, 2008 - August 29, 2008

The Bayer family just got back from vacationing with friends at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. After loading all of those pictures, which I will be posting in the upcoming days, I realized I had a lot of pictures from the past month and a half that hadn't been posted. So, here they are!

Kyle and several of his buddies began a FREE four week gymnastics class the week before we went on vacation. They let the kids explore all of the gym equipment and even bring several of the pieces down to their level. I am sure they are offering this free to entice us parents into signing up for classes later for our budding gymnasts. The kids really had a great time and it wore them out, making them ready for a long nap.

Hanging out at Bedford's pool with the Aberants

Our budding baseball player....so far he has shown more promise in hitting than pitching, Ingrid.

My brother, Jacob, who lives in Thailand, has recently traveled back to the states for about 6 months. He had to be in Richmond, VA for some training a few weekends ago so Kyle and I made the 2.5 hour drive up there to spend the weekend with him. We will get to see his wife and two daughters in October.
While in Richmond we took Kyle to the Richmond Children's Museum. Think he liked it?

One of the moms here suggested we go to this place across town called Planet Child. It is half priced admission between 1:00 and 3:00. Kyle and I made it there at about 2:55...whew! This place has several areas to it that allow kids to explore their creative sides with imaginary play. The various areas include: dress up theater, kitchen, grocery store, trains, pets, underwater, ship, safari, etc. We were there for about an hour and a half playing and Kyle could have easily stayed longer. His favorite thing was the kitchen, especially putting the pizza in and out of the oven.

Sticking his tongue out...his new thing. If you ask him where his tongue is he will promptly stick it out as far as possible.

I found this child sized cookware set on clearance at Target a while ago. Karl said Kyle wouldn't be that interested in it and that I should return it. I didn't, but I didn't open it right away. I knew how much Kyle loved watching us cook so I figured he would really like his own set of cookware. So, one evening while we were making supper, Kyle was getting a bit cranky. He was hungry and wanted to be held so that he could watch us. Sometimes we'll get the step ladder out, if one of us is not too busy to watch him, but we couldn't this night because we were both cooking. So, going a bit crazy because his usual kitchen toys weren't occupying him, I convinced Karl that the toy cookware set would solve our problems. Needless to say, I was right....and Karl was quick to say so!!! :) Kyle LOVES playing with his cookware and we don't mind the loud noise it makes on our floors.....most of the time...

Karl decided that it would be fun for Kyle to try out this mega shopping cart while getting groceries at Lowe's. He was right....Kyle loved it!

Like father, like son....those who know Karl well know that he loves to have a spoon in his mouth. After eating ice cream, peanut butter, cereal, etc. he will often hold onto the spoon and suck on it a while. Well, after tasting a sample of something from the deli, Kyle wasn't ready to part with his spoon either. Sigh...could they have anything more in common???? :)

The first family we met in our moms' group bought a house recently and had us over for a house warming party. She has a great yard and all the kids loved playing outside in it.

The joke was what if they end up in the same fraternity with a picture that looks very similar to these ones in the future....

Trying to get bubbles at Rhyme Time at the library...

We found out late in the season that one of the local areas, called North Hills, had free concerts on Thursday nights and people actually got into them....dance floor set up and a lot of people dancing. On this particular night, several of my friends went, along with our babies, while our husbands went golfing...hmm......

Kyle has this thing about climbing into strollers, his or others. No matter where we are and how much fun we may be having, if a stroller is near by he wants to climb into it.

Waiting with Alex, Savannah, and Matthew to go swimming at Bedford.

Meeting up for coffee and dessert at the Wake Forest Well.

A local children's performer, Trish Miller, performed at the Pottery Barn at the mall we most often go to recently. After Kyle was done snacking he walked over to her big bear and gave him a big Bayer hug!
This was the first night we went to the North Hills concert. Several familes joined us this night. Kyle and I joined our friends, Michelle and Amina (born the day after Kyle in the same hospital), for the Electric Slide on the dance floor.

Kyle and Amina had a great time playing throw and fetch the ball!

Kyle made little friends and big friends.

The dads went golfing early Saturday morning so what did we do? Made breakfast and had a play group, of course!

Kyle and I had Kaleigh over for a while one day while her parents went to see a movie. As these two spend more and more time together they get cuter and cuter. Before we went to the Outer Banks they met up for an ice cream date and were trying to hold hands....right in front of Amy and me!!!
