February 2 -24, 2009

A very rare warm spring like day in early February was spent with friends....golf for the guys and breakfast and park for the girls in the morning with an evening of grilling and playing in the yard....until the mosquitoes (in February???) came out.

All of the kids got together for a Valentine's Day Dance, cookie decorating, and lunch. Kyle took a few moments to spend some time with the one he loves most! Although, after our recent trip to Pensacola, if you ask him who he loves he'll say "Opa!"

The cookie decorating is done...time to enjoy it!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Matthew! The season of birthdays kicked off with a fun-filled Thomas the Train themed birthday party at Matthew's house.

Notice what Kyle has his eye on....
Disclaimer: Karl cut this huge adult size piece of cake for Kyle!!
Hardly any of the kids ate cake at Matthew's birthday last year. We were all waiting for our child's first birthdays to let them have their first piece of cake. This year....a way different story!
Kyle enjoyed every last bite of the cake.
All of the sweet kids, except Alex who had already left.

We flew to Pensacola on February 19 to see Karl's parents, friends from the area, and my aunt and uncle who had recently moved just east of Mobile, Alabama. Kyle hadn't flown since just before he was 6 months old so we didn't know how he'd do. We took the portable DVD player with two Barney DVDs (his all time favorite), several books, and some new inexpensive toys with us. We didn't need any of it! Just like his dad...the airport itself was entertainment while off the plane and the airplane itself was entertainment during the flight. We flew through Atlanta so Kyle had a great time looking at all of the big planes, riding the train, going up and down the escalators and elevators, and looking at all the people. The things that entertained him the most on the plane were opening and closing the window, trying to open and close the belts, and us turning the lights on and off.

Kyle is signing "more" here...wanting to see more and more planes.

Aunt Ingrid surprised us and drove to Pensacola while we were there. Kyle decided to do her prenatal exercises with her.
A trip to Florida must include time at the beach...even if it is February!

Karl took me to my first Mardi Gras parade. I had so much fun and think we need to head further west for more Mardi Gras fun next year.
Kyle loved all of the beads! Yes, he put all of them on by himself.

Opa, Karl, Kyle, and I went to the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola. Kyle loved it because there were so many planes he could climb up into.

Compare the way Kyle and his Opa walk....

Time to say goodnight after a family dinner!

Good night, Uncle Jim!
Good night, Aunt Dolly!
Good night, Opa!
Good night, Mommy!
Good night, Oma and Aunt Ingrid!

What a fantastic, relaxing, fun time we had in Pensacola!!!
